AROUND THE GROUND

2018 CHFL Season - Round 17 v Beaufort Wrap Up

Week one of finals features six teams from our club. The senior and U18 football teams and our B Grade, C Grade, U17 & U15 Netballers have had terrific seasons. To have this number of teams represent the club is an outstanding effort and a credit to our coaching staff, player group and committee we wish them all the best knowing that each team will represent the club with distinction

Last week we took on Beaufort at the Cattery unfortunately while they struggled in front of goal we were unable to sustain scoreboard pressure. Michael Bowden was dominant all day whilst Josh Milne, Myles Sewell and Wes Carter were also good contributors.

The Reserves match was a tough ask with numbers down through injury and unavailability the team has found the last few weeks tough going. Best players were Brad Wills, Brayden Slater and Scott Cawthorn.

The under 18s stepped away to take out a solid win. Jack Sampi, Trent Corboy and Marcus Tilley were strong contributors. The U15s put in a good effort and fought their match right out Mitch O’Brien, Patty Labbett and Dan Mizzeni worked tirelessly. The U12s players worked extremely hard, Josh Rofe along with Kody Slater and Will Merecki-Wallace led the way in a good all-round team performance.

Over on the netball court, our A Grade side finished their season with a close clash unfortunately a win was not to be Rose Russell played well as did Caitlyn May. The B Grade kept their season on track with a win. Cara Vanzini and Ali Slater were the best players. The C Grade girls took the points in a great effort Nat Maher and Nicole McKay played well.

The U17s had a big win Maggie Russell and Georgia Martino were in fine form. Our U15s took out a strong victory Kenzie Mahar and Grace Charry being the better players on the day. The U13As had a loss but really worked hard, Abbey Fishlock and Kate Masterson were in good form. Whilst the U13B netballers also put together a strong performance with all players leading the way, Mabel Barrett and Annabella Miller stood out. All the best to our teams this weekend.
