2018 CHFL Season - Week 2 of Finals Wrap Up

Unfortunately, last week was an unsuccessful weekend for the club with all five teams exiting the finals race.

The seniors struggled to create scoreboard pressure despite good intensity and some great efforts they were unable to get close enough to threaten their opposition.  Hopefully next season will see them go further into the finals. Josh Milne played a stellar game across back whilst Adam Sewell and Patrick Parr were good contributors. It was disappointing to finish the season with a heavy loss. Although taking the season in context it was a terrific effort to come from the lower section of the ladder to go into the second week of the finals.

The under 18s had a somewhat slow start to their match. A strong second half could not pull back the half time lead. The effort from the guys was fantastic throughout; The boys are to be congratulated on the way they represented the club this season. Alex Ritchie, Byron Wynd and Jack Sampi were strong contributors.

Over on the netball court, our B Grade put in a strong performance working extremely hard to get a valuable win unfortunately a great season ended with a disappointing seven-goal loss. Kristina Clohesy and Nichole Hammond were outstanding.

The U17s struggled to get their game going finding goals hard to come by  Maggie Russell and Georgia Martino were in fine form.

Our U15s fought out a tight affair with all players contributing It was unfortunate that a victory was out of their reach as the girls put up a terrific effort Kenzie Mahar and Grace Charry being the better players on the day.

Our club like others relies heavily on an army of volunteers to compete each week. A huge thankyou goes to the Newlyn faithful for their contribution this season.
