AROUND THE GROUND

2019 SEASON - Round 4 v Gordon Wrap Up

Today we visit Dunnstown looking forward to a competitive round of football and netball.

Last week’s game against Gordon saw our seniors end a long run of losses against their highly rated opponents. The match was a defensive tussle initially with our defence standing strong holding the opposition to a solitary goal despite the advantage of a gusty wind. It was in the second quarter that the guy’s set up their win Dan Wehrung was strong up forward providing an avenue to goal, as the entire team lifted in support. A five goal to one quarter ensured the game was under control Myles Sewell and Dan Wehrung and Tristan May were the better players.

The Reserves match was a quality game with some great passages of football stepping away to strong win Jason Slater once again played a fine game getting good support from Justin Green and Lachy Shaw.

The under 18s put in a terrific performance but also just fell short Alex Rofe, Seamus, Murphy McKay and Marcus Tilley were in good form. The 15s came up against a very strong opposition but fought the game out well Will Martin, Sam Corboy and Dan Mizzeni were the better players. The U12s were impressive with all players working extremely hard Oliver Martin, Mitch Martin and James Tippett worked hard.

Over on the netball court our A Grade team put in a good effort but unfortunately fell just short Kara Stephens and Ryliegh Haire were the better players. The B Grade girls again performed well taking out a solid win Kayla Pomery and Sarah Campbell were strong contributors The C Grade girls put in a good performance controlling their game throughout Sam Lindkvist and Nicole McKay played well.

The U17s dominated with a strong win Grace Charry and Bella Prendergast were in fine form. Our U15s worked hard taking out the win Ruby Hurst and Nikaya McMillan performed well in a solid team effort. The U13As put in a good effort with all players in their win Emma Barry and Claudia Martin were good form. Whilst the U13B netballers also put together a strong performance with all player’s leading the way Mabel Barret and Annabella Millar played well.

Tonight it’s back to the Western for a meal and refreshments get along to what should be a great night
